WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2017)

Hello, Bookish Buddies, and welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.  Sorry this post is up so late in the day, I had no free time until now except for the time I spent making cookie dough because I was hungry.  Anyway, without further ado, let’s get into the books!

What am I currently reading?

Everything. Literally, everything.

  1. Fire by Kristin Cashore – I am really enjoying this story a lot more than I thought I would.  I was skeptical about reading a story in the Graceling world that didn’t feature Katsa as the protagonist, but I’m really loving Fire!
  2. The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan – I have not made much progress on this book, and it automatically returns itself on Overdrive in a week, which would normally be okay, but I’m reading four other books, so I’m a little stressed.
  3. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald – To be completely honest with you, I normally only skim school books, but I really want to read The Great Gatsby. The problem is, I like to read only my own time, but my teacher wants me to read along with the class. I had this problem with The Handmaid’s Tale as well.
  4. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz – This story is so cute! I love it so much already. It’s so lighthearted and adorable and Dante is the most precious little cinnamon roll!
  5. Girl Rising by Tanya Lee Stone – You guys, I got my very first ARC!  This is it, it comes out on Valentine’s Day, so definitely check it out when it comes out.  It’s such an eye opening read and it has some very beautiful images and empowering stories in it. My review will be up on Sunday!

What did I recently finish reading?

15749186

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han – I don’t know if this counts, because I DNF’d it. I wanted to like it. I really did.  And I was enjoying it until I rage quit it at page 90 because Lara Jean started lying to everyone about everything for absolutely no reason, and I can’t stand that in books. I can’t stand when the plot of a book is entirely based on a character lying about something for absolutely no reason.  But fear not, I found it a good home with my friend who I think will really enjoy it.

What do I think I am going to read next?

15868

Harry Potter y La Piedra Filosofal por JK Rowling – No, you didn’t just accidentally translate this page into Spanish. I am going to read the Harry Potter series in Spanish, because my Spanish skills need a miracle right now.  Seriously, I suck at speaking Spanish. Unfortunately for me, I will have to take Spanish for the next 2-4 years, so I thought I would loathe it less if I tried studying in a way that was fun for me.

    1. Thanks, you were right. Publishers don’t seem to be that picky about who they give their ARCs to. I already have two. I love Ari and Dante so much!
